TMD was appointed as Project Manager and Employer’s Agent for a project involving a number of layout and access improvements to this Grade I and Grade II listed building in the heart of Oxford.
The scope of the project included the installation of a lift to all floors of the building and a bespoke platform lift in the dividing wall between the Grade I and Grade II listed buildings. The final phase included the installation of a new external ramp on the St Giles entrance.
The key project challenges related to undertaking very sensitive and disruptive works within such a historically important building, whilst also working around existing occupiers both during and outside term dates.
The work was undertaken over three phases. The initial phase was tendered via a JCT D&B procurement route. The subsequent phases were undertaken as a negotiated contract.
